Been able to totally relax in peace
The front office/reception staff were very nice, kind and accommodating. Very spacious and well kept
The quality of food can be improved
It was in a quiet area but near enough to walk down to Sliema. The bus stop is across the road, handy for buses to Valetta or to the port for Gozo. The breakfasts were good plenty of choice. The pool area was clean, lots of little tables to sit and enjoy a drink in the shade.Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The Hotel is very well located and an ideal basis to undertake various day trips around Valetta. Also a large number of fine restaurants can be found very near by.
Not even one single ray of day light in the breakfast room. Cold atmosphere. Very inflexible staff. There could be made so much more out this hotel.
the parking space for 2 Eur/day
breakfast was ok, the staff at the reception wasn't very competent and there was no free wifi
Helpful staff, grandiose foyer and staircase. Good pool and sun terrace.
No kettle in the room, too many mosquitoes, poor standard of food in restaurant.
The staff were very friendly and it was good value for money the location was great. It is a very grand building.
Horrible. Completelly deshonest. I Used Booking exelent services in Viena, aAutria, In London, in Venecia, Italy twice. In Spain , in Rome, Paris, usa, in Egipt and Tunes Exelent services But in Malta was horrible .
I arrived to the hotel on time. When I go into the room was a nigthmare.DERTY Completelly derty. Cold. The cortines in an old oxidated tube . The walls dirty and with pieces of picture down. I refused to stay in the hotel. And the manager obligate me to pay tree days complete. Was deshonesty because the politic of booking tell that if I not cancel or present in the hotel, I have to pay tree days of the cost. But was not my case. Because I was in the room but when I see the situation I start crying, and change the hotel because I can not stay there for 13 days ( I went to Malta for a medical surgery and alone, not for pleasure ) . The corridor was full of workers with cemento, pawder and so so noisy. I just was five minutes in the room. I tryed to talk frendly with the manager but He treate my bud and autority in front of tree very yung girls. (Receptionist and twoo students, becarias) He obligate me to pay more than 150 Euros and I cant do nothing because I had to sign , when I just arrived ( before see the room) a cupon or baucher in blanc with my Credit card. Was completelly deshonest with a woman alone and with helth ploblems.
Initial friendliness of staff, style of the hotel- kind of like a castle- in an old building with fake body armour at the end of the corridors. Roaring fire in the bar/lounge. And outside area for eating if its warm enough.
TV was a bit of an antique with only 3 channels- 2 news and 1 tacky channel. We were out most of the time so we didn't bother to ask to change it. However as we were leaving they asked us to pay the remainder for the room. It put a bit of a dampner on the stay as we thought that we had paid for all of it by booking through this website. It turned out they were right, but no one had informed us at check in, which would have been useful and whenever you dispute things in Malta, they get very defensive for some reason!
Quiet and close to restaurants and the sea.
The bread at breakfast. The supper was poor.
The Imperial Hotel is a centrally located hotel in Sliema at walking distance from St Julian's (and Paceville) and at only 5 minutes by ferry from Valletta. Public transport to tour the island is within easy reach, as are various beaches, restaurants and other facilities. The hotel itself has a very authentic Victorian feel to it, rooms are spacious, the swimming pool is great and the pool bar is open all day.
Apart from the swimming pool, the facilities are a tad antiquated. Even though the room was generally clean, we also discovered some mouldy spots in the corner of our room. Staff was generally helpful, but seemed rather aloof in their demeanour (bar and reception).
The only thing that can be described as an advantage is uts location which is within 15 minutes of the sea in any diraction. The reception personell was always very helpfull.
The rooms and the furniture and fittings need replacement and or refurbishment. My room was very basic with a very old tv set and no fridge - bar, which in a country with Maltas temperatures in the summer cannot be considered a luxury but a neccecity.
We chose this hotel for reasons of nostalgia, not cheapness. We were quickly upgraded - at modest enough extra cost - from the dark, noisy ground floor room to a bright, quiet room overlooking the garden. Staff generally helpful.
The public rooms are elegant, the bedrooms are not. Dined once - never again. Breakfast was truly nasty, apart from the toast and butter, but the bread was not too fresh. The cheapest available ingredients are served and even the instant cofee from the machine (bearing a well known name ) was inferior. Bright room spoiled by filthy windows.
Helpful and efficient Reception staff; Poolside/Bar area pleasant; Location provides easy access to main points of interest, restaurants, etc. in the city; Good value for money.
Room cleaners were very noisy and started early-morning (7am) -- banging doors, dragging heavy items along the tiled corridor, etc. -- making sleep difficult; No coffee/tea making facilities in our room -- though these facilities are listed in the hotel/room directory provided by the hotel; The hotel/room directory itself was messy and dog-eared -- which never inspires confidence in the hotel.
large rooms and an atmosphere from another era.
Staff just didn't seem able to get messages to me - on one occasion my friend's call was transferred to another room and woke someone up Also I needed a 4.30am call to get to the airport and they forgot so woken up when the taxi came. good job by then I realsied that they might not get this right and had already packed.
